Tablets vs Notebooks

Ok to so we all know that technology has advanced in the last few years with the introduction of the Apple iPad. Now the market is getting flooded by other branded tablets to compete.  So what are the Pros and Cons…….?

Notebook

Pros:

  • Has a full operating system installed, therefore no limitations to software.

  • Full size independent keyboard with the optional numeric pad.

  • You have a choice of screen sizes depending on your preferences.

  • Resolution on a notebook screen is higher than on a tablet device

  • Better durability with the added advantage of a built in screen protector (being the cover) to help eliminate those nasty unwanted scratches.

  • Greater scope for upgrade and more easily repaired.

Cons

  • Some notebooks are heavy and bulky.

  • Notebooks are not suitable for quick access like a tablet.

  • Battery life can be restricted on some models.

Tablets

Pros

  • One touch control via applications

  • High portability and easy to whip out of your bag at any time.

  • You can use your tablet as an oversized iPod for music, photos and videos

  • Battery life is a lot longer than the average notebook.

Cons

  • Price tag is still a little high, but this will drop as more come into the marketplace.

  • Highly susceptible to screen damaged – which can render the device useless until repaired.

  • Limitations to data and programmes, depending on operating system on tablet.

There are a lot of new products entering the market every month and it is hard to know what one is best to buy.  Our best advice is to make a list of what you want your next computer to do for you, and then go from there.

Remember to speak to your local computer experts to get the best advice and services.
