What is Cloud computing?
The latest buzz word in the IT world is CLOUD.
Do you know what this actually means?
Cloud computing is where a network of computers are linked together enabling users to access their data from anywhere. In a way it is a virtual server you can access over the internet.
Some of you may already be using Cloud based programs without knowing it, eg Flickr, Google Docs, even Gmail or Hotmail accounts.
Using the cloud gives you the ability to access your photo's, documents, emails, programs from multiple devices such as your phone, tablet, notebook, work computer, etc. It is a great way to maximise your computing experience on a lower budget, as you don't need to buy and maintain the equipment storing your data. Look at it in a way of you paying rent for your data.
So if you are going to do some travelling, you could look at storing any data you might need in a Cloud account. You could also upload any pictures taken while away rather than keeping multiple SD cards or clogging up your storage space on your notebook/tablet.
The only thing you have to remember is that you are reliant on the internet to be able to access your data in the Cloud.
As with all things there are pro's and con's and it really depends on your own needs as to whether Cloud computing suits you.
As always don't hesitate to speak to your local computer specialists.
