Why you may get blocked when you send a mass email.

Whether it be a large family, club or a business marketing campaign, if you send too many emails at once you may be blocked by your service provider or email provider. This means you won’t be able to send or received emails for up to 48 hours as you will be flagged as a spammer. You can prevent this from happening by using mass mailing applications, known as email marketing services.

Here a two examples of ones you can use:

Mail Chimp, it is an email marketing service which enables you to email in mass and helps you to design your content within email. You can create groups that you want to regularly email to. This service is free up to 2000 addresses and 12,000 emails per month.  Above this you will need to pay a subscription. Which ranges from $10 to $245 per month.

Talkbox, this is an advanced digital marketing tool. This is a paid service and is for more business targeted customers. You can utilise their connection tools to send one email campaign that will link to your other social media outlets you have setup (eg: Twitter, Facebook, etc). You can also create scannable vouchers using QR codes for easy redemption by the recipients. Pricing varies depending on what functions you wish to utilise.

Many of us have a gmail account and whether you use this as your regular email account or just for online signups.  If you plan to use this account for mass emails be aware that they have a limitations in place depending on the email content you are sending. Be aware of their terms and conditions for sending bulk emails so that they aren’t tagged as ‘Spam’. Also check with your IPS (Internet Service Provider) as they will have similar guidelines in place.

These limits are put in place to stop spammers and to help you keep your email uncluttered with unwanted emails. Same goes to you, if you want to send out an email and select everyone in your address book, maybe not everyone would want to receive it.

It’s good to setup different groups to make it easier for you to send that funny joke you get or that committee notice that needs a reply. This way you are saving time and also know that the correct people are receiving the email you are sending.
