What is so good about a gaming keyboard?

You may have seen on the market ‘Gaming keyboard’ or keyboards that have magical back lit unicorn powered keys. (Not really but you get the idea.) We have been asked in store previously what is so good about this keyboard? And do I really need the magical unicorn power? 

Well the short answer is if you are not gaming no. 

However, the keys as a starting point may have an extra coating on the most used keys. And are commonly backlit which is cool at night time or when you customize the colouring to what you like.  They also differ in the way that the key is pressed. The keyboards with mechanical key switches offer a more tactile response and are highly customizable in regards to resistance and design. 

If you find that no keyboard has ever been ‘comfortable enough’ for you. It may be something you need to look into. Some keyboards are split, some are shallow keys others deep. The gaming keyboards on the market are designed for prolonged use and are built to be more robust. And occasionally are even sweat and dust proof. 

Gaming keyboards can have extra features and keys that are programmable for use in or out of games. Meaning that you can customize the keyboard even further to not use a mouse for example. Or to have a certain gaming feature enhanced. 

So, if you are looking at starting to game or for something more customizable or comfortable. We do recommend looking at some gaming keyboards (and mice). 

If you don’t think any of these features will be beneficial to you then we wouldn’t recommend investing the money in something fuelled by unicorn magic. 😉
