Backups and why we go on about them
We constantly remind people to back up their data.
This is because it is YOU that is responsible for this NOT your computers, phones or tablets.
But why are backups so important?
Think about how many times you have shut down your PC without saving you work?
Now imagine that you can never turn on your device ever again and not be able to retrieve your photos, videos or documents.
This is where backups come into the picture. This is your copy of all your files that you will be able access should something happen to the originals.
Over the years we have had people coming in wanting documents for tax returns or business records retrieved. Some have even asked us to retrieve EVERY baby photo and video since ‘baby X’ was born from failed devices.
Whilst our technicians we may be able to retrieve your data, there is no guarantees depending on the fault you have. Plus the stress and hassle caused to you would be worth the small investment of time and equipment to back all of these things up.
We do also recommend you have a second copy at an alternative location. So that if you misplace it or something happens in the event of an emergency you have another copy.
