Do you service your computer regularly?

Ah yes! Computers just like cars, air conditioners and other household items need to be serviced! 

Dust builds up fast in laptops and desktops due to static electricity created by moving components and the currents used to make the device run. We have even had the odd computer in store that has had spiders and mice inside. 

Software is also required to be maintained regularly. We often install programs and forget about them after we have used them once or twice. These need updates run to keep them running and install any new features created by the software developer. 

The other most common thing we tend to accumulate and forget about cleaning up is our download files. How many of you have ever gone through your pictures and video files to remove duplicate or those sneaky finger shots. All of these files can build up and clog your systems over time causing your computer to slow down. Not to mention that you should be in the habit now of backing up those precious files to protect you in an event of a power or hardware failure. 

Finding hardware issues early on is important. If you have pop ups, whirring or vibrating sounds or a slowing device. These can all be signs that it’s time to give your device some love and attention. 

We all value our computer devices, whether it be a phone, tablet, notebook or PC. We should therefore keep them in check to ensure they keep running for us.  

Booking in your computer for a check over every 6 months or yearly can save you in the long run, making sure it continues working when you rely on it. Avoid getting caught out and being left in the lurch, maintain your computer the same you would your car.
