How small can a Computer be?
When you think of a computer you think of a big box with lots of cables coming out or a notebook computer. Well technology is changing yet again and you can now get a computer that fits in the palm of your hand.
That’s right, a fully functioning Windows computer that fits in the palm of your hand. WOW. Just plug it into your TV via the HDMI port and wallah you have a large screen computer. It’s overall size is only 10cm x 3.7cm x 1cm and looks more like a USB stick than a computer.
What will I use that for I hear you ask.
Well if you don’t have a smart TV this little computer plugs into your HDMI port on your TV and will enable you to connect to the internet via the built-in wifi connection, utilise Netflix, and stream videos. You will also be able to work from home on large screen format (great for student projects). If you have a webcam you can video call family and friends from the comfort of your couch, I’m sure everyone will fit in then.
This tiny computer has minimum of 32GB on board storage of which 19GB is taken up with the Windows 8.1 software. However it does have the ability to expand to a further 128GB using a micro SD card. You can also plug in external devices via the USB port. It has an Atom Processor, 2GB ram and Windows 8.1 pre-loaded.
We recommend using a media keyboard as they have a built in mouse pad and makes it a lot easier to manoeuvre through the windows menus.
So now you can walk around with a Windows PC in your pocket and the RRP for this funky little device is only $249.
I’m sure this is only the start of where computers will go in the future. One day soon we will just point in the air as the computer will be in our watch or something.
As always, if you need any computing advice, don’t hesitate to contact your local IT professional.
