The importance of having the right adapter
We all have numerous electronic devices these days which all come with their own adapter.
Picture this: You’ve lost your tablet charger! All you have lying around is your phone charger. “That will work, it has the same cable!” you think to yourself as you plug it into your tablet. Sure it will…for a while. Eventually your tablet begins to not hold charge for as long. Your phone will not charge anymore and your charge is really hot.
OH no! What have you done?
You see just because the cable is the same doesn’t mean that the wattage is the same. You have burnt out your adapter. Not only that but you may have permanently damaged your tablet.
So what should you really do in this scenario?
You should find an adapter that has the same or more wattage for your device that also has adequate amperage.
Wattage
Using lower watt adapters will burn out as they are working too hard to charge your battery in your device. This can also result in a shortened life span of battery.
Amperage
The amperage rating of a power supply is the maximum number of amps that it’s able to provide if needed.
So as long as you replace your power supply with one that is capable of providing as much (Or more) than your original adapter, you will be fine.
There are soo many choices in the marketplace today, this is a simple guide to help you not short out your device/adapter or potentially cause a fire due to the adapter burning out.
Check with your local computer store next time you need a replacement adapter, make sure you get the right one.
