Phishing attempts are starting to look more legitimate.

he most recent malicious software is the document arriving through google docs.
It is an email that is sent to you requesting for you to view a document through Google docs. Once you accept the invite to view and download the file to view malicious software infects your device.

The reason why they want access especially through your google account is because of what it is linked to. In many cases a google play account is linked which can then be used as an access point to bank accounts or credit cards.

How to look out for this malware:

  • If you receive an email from someone you don’t know with the subject line “Documents” It’s more than likely going to be a malicious file.

  • If you have to log into your account again after logging in to view your email. Don’t it’s probably a fake log in page.

These people have been smart, VERY smart. They have used google docs themselves to host the malicious document. And created a fake log in screen that looks so similar even we got stuck!
